제 20 회,     북한 자유주간 행사

올해의 자유주간 행사는 빈틈없는 일정이 차질없이 잘 이루어졌습니다.

저는 9월 18일, 대전 현충원의 황장엽 선생 묘소에 참배한 것이 뜻깊습니다. 그는 인류가 영원히 발전할 진리를 지키려 자기와 가족까지 희생하신 성인입니다. 민주주의는 인간의 본성에 맞게 개인의 자유와 창의력을 보장하면서도 집단주의 정책의 장점도 취사선택해야 발전합니다.

저는 북한 동포들에게 남한과 해외에서 그들을 지원하는 손길이 있다고 알리는 탈북 지도자들의 활동에 감명했습니다.   북한 독재체제는 주민들을 외부세계와 단절시켜야 만 가능합니다.  인권 존중, 민주주의 사상이 침투되면 독재가 무너져 평화적 통일이 될 것입니다.

This year's Freedom Week event was held without any disruption due to a thorough schedule.

It was meaningful for me to visit the grave of Hwang Jang-yeop at Daejeon National Cemetery on September 18th. He is a saint who sacrificed himself and his family to protect the truth that will lead to the eternal development of the nation and humanity. Democracy develops only when it guarantees individual freedom and creativity in line with human nature while also taking advantage of collectivist policies.

I was impressed by the work of North Korean defector leaders who let their compatriots know that there is support for them in South Korea and abroad. .  North Korea's dictatorship is only possible by cutting off its people from the outside world.  If human rights are respected and democratic ideas are infiltrated, dictatorship will fall and peaceful unification will occur.
